same-d designed the alluring rooftop terrace in the duplex apartment in Amsterdam-South. Taking into account the design considerations which include access, ergonomic and comfort factors and easy long-term maintenance.
The resulting terrace design has an improved access to the roof instead of a hatch, good shelter from the wind and minimal maintenance to both the terrace and balustrade.
The balustrade design is a variation of the original French balcony, with an epoxy-coated steel finish.
The Red-Cedar wood and glass entrance serves as a storage and windshield. At the back there is a retractable windshield. The electrically operated awning provides shelter from the sun.
same-d has also designed the furniture. The sofa is composed of flexible blocks which can be moved to make different combinations.
